PHOTOS

Great Ghalib had a few photos of beloved
And a few love letters
Which were found as his belonging after his demise
But I do not have letters of lovely ones
Because I am not Ghalib
But for sure I have some photos of idols I worshiped
While had good days
I keep casting glances upon them
Not diverting eyes,
That pierces and pricks
Which one fails to attain
Bereaved I am
I endeavor to forget the realities implied
In photographs
Which remind me a line of Tennyson
"So sad so fresh the days that are no more"
It happens often that
Poverty becomes the cause of deprivation
And failures
What a state of mind!
That neither I could tear off the prints
Nor have patience to possess them
But just to compose heart I see them
Eyes are filled with tears
The photograph I feel slabbing
On the face of my poverty
I blubber
No body is there to share my agony

Kya khoob Ghalib ne kaha tha Chand tasveer-e-butan
Chand haseen-o-khutoot
Aur yahi unka kul sarmaya tha
Mere pas haseeno ke khutoot nahi hain
Kyunki main Ghalib nahi hoon
magar Tasveer-e-buta’n zaroor hain
Jinhe main dekh raha hoon
Aur dekhe ja raha hoon
Zindagi me jo hasil nahi ho sakta
Uska gham kasak ban kar Dil ko kachot’ta hai
Main tasveeron ki haqeeqat ko bhoolna chahta hoon
Lekin unhe dekh kar Momin ka misra yad aa raha hai
Kabhi humse tumse bhi rah thi,
Aisa pahle bhi hota raha hai
Ki ghareebi mahroomi ki vajah hoti hai
Nakami ka karan banti hai
Lekin mujhse na ye tasveeren phadte ban rahi hain
Aur na inhe rakhte ban raha hai
Dil ko bahlane ke liye ye tasveeren hi sahi
Aansu aate chale ja rahe hain
Ye tasveeren meri ghareebi ke munh perTamacha mar rahi hain
Main bilbila raha hoon
Ye mere dabe kuchle armanon ka aks samete hain
Mera koi ghamkhwar nahi hai
Main apko dikha raha hoon
Ye Tasveeren hain
Arhar ke daal ki aur pyaz ki…

Buta’n= Preyasi, khutoot= Patr, Mehroomi= Vanchit hona, Aks= Chhaya, Ghamkhwar= Sahanubhooti karne wala.
